DAYAKIRANA SPECIALISED ADOPTION CENTRE

DAYAKIRANA SPECIALISED ADOPTION CENTRE

Being a pioneer institution in child care, the district child protection officer (DCPO) put forward a proposal to Dayabhavan to start an Adoption Centre in the institution. With the general body’s approval, a formal application was submitted to the government and got it approved.

St. Gregorios Dayabhavan has been authorized by the Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Karnataka and by the Central Adoption Resource Authority (CARA), a statutory body of Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India to commence both in-Country and inter-Country adoptions of children—care and protection of just born/infants, orphaned and abandoned—as the first adoption centre in Tumkur District. The organization will serve as the partner NGO for the State Adoption Resource Agency (SARA) under the Integrated Child Protection Society.

This is a maiden venture among the services of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

A ‘Mamatheya Thottil’ is also installed near Adoption Centre, Kunigal and at ‘Dayasparsha Hospital, Tumkur.

Get-Together of Adoptive and Prospective Adoptive Parents

The Dayakirana Adoption Center (St. Gregorios Dayabhavan, Kunigal) and the District Child Protection Office Unit, Tumkur celebrated their first year of adoption services in a function involving prospective and adoptive parents on 13 March 2020. During the year, the center placed 21 infants in the care of eligible parents after due diligence. This was highlighted as the highest number of adoptions that took place in a center within the entire state of Karnataka. The get together of parents and staff was helpful in understanding various aspects concerning infant care and adoption process and also served as a medium to popularize the services rendered by the organization among public.
